Ode to the Living Tree and the Conference of Birds is a dance between improvisation and composition, containing a solo and a trio presented back-to-back with a “fold” in the middle. Dancers and a musician drift between presence and remembering, exploring branching compositions and transposing sound into movement.
Elise Cowin and Josh Hoglund have made this performance with a handful of amazing artist friends and collaborators: Zach Nicol, Jessica Ray and Bryan Saner all created movement and dance in this piece. Michael Zerang will be making live sound. Christine Shallenberg has done both lighting and costumes.
Early stages of this project were supported by DCASE’s Individual Artist Program.
