The art collective SiteSize presents audiovisual works developed in the context of the Museo Vivo de las Cuencas (Living Museum of Watersheds). This initiative began with Barcelona’s urban rivers and their watersheds, considered as co-creators of the landscape. The Living Museum is our way of exercising hydro-stewardship, with the goal of re-establishing bonds of co-responsibility with the Besós and Llobregat rivers. As riverbank communities we have a duty to preserve the biodiversity of these watercourses and their role as biological corridors. In a similar way we are interested in caring for the river basins as community spaces for the confluence of all the living beings who articulate the territory and respond to the effects of water management. With our artistic practices we seek to rebuild bridges and reconstruct an aquatic imaginary that makes possible direct connections between people and their habitat. The idea is to act in reciprocity with the environment to bring forth natural rights to the land, the water and the spaces around us. Through this layered approach the Living Museum grows as a communicative hub connecting with other bioregional watersheds across the world.
